The vision of GESDA is to “Use the future to build the present” by bringing together different communities in order to jointly anticipate scientific and technological advancements and, based on them, develop inclusive and global solutions for a sustainable future.
Due to the complexity and systemic nature of global challenges, it will be crucial to break down sector-driven silos. Only through multilateral, cross-disciplinary thinking and coordination can we address in an anticipative way such issues as ending poverty through inclusive growth, tackling climate change and combating public health emergencies.
The Foundation aims, in favour of multilateralism, to leverage the International Geneva ecosystem to anticipate, accelerate and translate into concrete actions the use of emerging science-driven topics.
To this end, the Swiss Government and the State Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva approved the statutes establishing GESDA as an independent foundation in 2019.
