Geneva Health Forum at the World Health Assembly 2025

Changing the story; Collaboration and solutions for migrant health

Presentation:

Migration is often framed as a challenge—but it is also a powerful driver of diversity, innovation, and resilience. This session called on stakeholders to shift the narrative, recognize migrants as agents of their own health, and co-create inclusive solutions. In the context of the World Health Assembly, we elevated lived experiences, fostered dialogue, and seeded new collaborations.

Through participatory roundtables, we tackled shared challenges and explored practical responses in mental health, research, and community leadership. Together, we built momentum for dignity-based health systems that left no one behind.

  • Roundtable 1: Data & research, improving quality, equity, and narrative approaches
  • Roundtable 2: Mental health, addressing systemic gaps with culturally sensitive care
  • Roundtable 3: Migrants as actors: co-creating care and community leadership

During this session, JJ Keith, photographer, kindly shared his exhibition of portraits "Open Britain: Portrait of a Diverse Nation.” JJ Keith used his camera to capture and celebrate the contributions migrants had made to life in the UK within the healthcare system—particularly the NHS—in this collaboration carried out with the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
