RESACOOP advises and supports organizations in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region that are involved in international cooperation and solidarity actions with countries in Africa, South America, Asia and Eastern Europe. Both a resource center and a "public service" for international cooperation, RESACOOP offers a space for meetings and dialogue, open to all inhabitants of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Since July 1, 2017, RESACOOP has taken over the activities of the CERAPCOOP network and has extended its services throughout the new greater Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, in line with the territorial reform process. In order to give priority to proximity with all regional actors, in the continuity of the actions undertaken, RESACOOP has two sites: one in Lyon (headquarters), the other in Clermont-Ferrand.
Created in 1994 on the initiative of the Prefecture of the Rhône-Alpes region and the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council, following the legal recognition of international cooperation of local authorities by the French State, RESACOOP has two main objectives
In 2006, RESACOOP became a public interest group (GIP) with 14 founding members. Today, the GIP has 27 members with a wide range of statuses (State, local authorities, associations, collective, training centers and universities, public institutions).
