The Foundation Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) assembles the academic public health expertise available across 12 Swiss universities. SSPH+ is based on the vision that public health is a scientific and professional field, shaped by a broad range of disciplines. In a small country like Switzerland, no single institution has the critical mass needed to cover all public health relevant areas. The “virtual inter-university faculty” provides a promising base from which to strengthen public health by assembling over 250 professors in public health sciences all across Switzerland. SSPH+ initiates and supports a range of academic activities across universities that would not get support from any single university.

SSPH+ consists of the Directorate, the Foundation Board, more than 200 faculty members and leaders of educational programs (SSPH+ Fellows) as well as its researchers and PhD students.

Its Vision is to promote equitable health through higher education, research and knowledge transfer.

SSPH+ focus its mission on three strategic pillars:

Teaching & Education: SSPH+ fosters high-quality higher education and training collaborations to enable a skilled public healthworkforce locally, nationally, and internationally.
Inter-university Research: SSPH+ facilitates and promotes interdisciplinary, trans-institutional research to strengthen public healthnationally and internationally.
Science to Policy & Practice: SSPH+ supports the translation and dissemination of public health science to policy, practice, and the public.

Its core Motivation is to foster higher education and research. SSPH+ empowers its public health community and its faculty of dedicated public health experts and scientists to become stronger and broader in Switzerland and abroad. SSPH+ facilitates inter-university collaborations which provide us an added value in terms of scientific exchange and lifelong learning. SSPH+ contributes to the health of the population and improve general knowledge about health through our extended network, thus interacting as an intermediary between science and the public. SSPH+ shares its knowledge of public health with students, politicians, the media, the economy and the public
